As creative professionals we all need to find some design inspiration to get us started. It might be a plastic grocery bag blowing around in the wind (how Alan Ball got the idea for the screenplay for American Beauty) or it could be some online surfing to see what grabs our interest that day.
This post features the top online places that we scout to find beautiful design works that inspire us and are part of our design research routine.
Behance is the most used online portfolio platform – it’s a true meeting place for designers who want to display their work while tapping into what’s happening globally. On Behance, you can peruse inspiring portfolios, discover the latest design trends and network with aspiring and professional designers.
The Featured Galleries option in Behance is a great way to find selected works in a specific category. If you want to look at branding projects for example, just go through the Branding Served Site to view some of the best projects in this category. There are many other Galleries too – go in and explore!
Designspiration showcases useful inspirationand lets you organize your visual research. You can create folders for your favorite images, search by color or theme, and even go through other people’s collections to see what caught their eye.

Features include awards for best designs and an informative blog that will keep you in the loop with valuable information and even more packaging design inspiration.
Dribble is a go-to platform for UI portfolios. Here you can find an assortment of UI inspiration - from icons, to animations, to entire mobile app designs and more. One of its key features is being able to search by color and tag, making it a breeze to browse the numerous offerings.
Scoutzie is a portfolio website for UI designers that you can search by platform, project type and budget. Use it when you’re looking for very specific inspiration and/or information about UI design.
